Hello! We’ve created this website to let people know who we are and where we are in our ongoing process of adoption.
Let’s start here…
Who are we?
Since some of you will know us directly and some won’t, let us briefly tell our story. We are Peter and Bethany, and even before we were married nine years ago, we knew that we would be parents together. As most people do, we’ve had our own thoughts of what that would look like, and after many years of trying to have children, including expensive fertility treatments, we’ve come to realize that there are clearly other plans for us. We believe that our child is coming, but in a different way than we had initially envisioned.
Why Adoption?
We’ve come to learn that the adoption journey is not for the faint of heart, but life is not about an easy path, it’s about the right path. We have several family members who have adopted, and have seen the joy that family coming together in any form can bring!
“So how can I help?”
While we have our plans, we know that it is God who directs our steps, and we ultimately want what God wants for us! So here is where you come in: Please pray for us! As much as we lean toward wanting to be independent, we know the power and support that comes from community, and we know that we can’t do this alone.
Additionally, we’ve had a number of friends and family members that have told us that they actively want to be involved in helping with the high costs of adoption. As you may or may not already know, adoption is an expensive process, and in our case, this will range between $25,000 and $50,000 depending on whether the child for us is in Ohio or in another state. We have already spent about $6,000 on the processes after spending much more than that on fertility treatments, so we are very grateful for those who are in a position to help us, because every gift we receive—no matter how large or small—is not just a drop in the bucket, but a huge part in helping us grow a family.
So with that in mind, we decided to create a lasting and meaningful way to allow those who are able and willing to help us with the finances involved: Our Family Puzzle Fundraiser.
Other ways you can support this journey:
- We strongly believe in the power of prayer. We’ve seen the results of God’s people pouring out their hearts before Him and we hope that you’ll join us in prayer – not that we would have a successful adoption, but that God’s will in this circumstance would be done, whatever that looks like.
- Help spread the word of our journey to others that you think may be interested in helping us, by sharing our fundraiser on social media and with your friends.
- Finally, we have also learned that referrals can come from anywhere. If you happen to know of a pregnancy situation in which someone is considering adoption, please reach out and let us know.
